Detailed Product Overview Robust SKELETON CABLE REELS WITH TROLLEY AND REELING STAND Our impressive range of incredibly durable 'skeleton' cable drums is designed to withstand the rigors of life on the road and is equally at home in TV or film studios. Crafted from heavy-duty, welded steel tubing, these drums feature a protective passivated zinc plating. The traditional two-flange style is ideal for triax camera cables, multicore audio cables, and heavy-duty power cables. Meanwhile, our innovative three-flange design is perfect for coiling and safeguarding the inner 'tail' of SMPTE 311M hybrid fiber camera cables. Additionally, an optional combined trolley and reeling stand facilitates the easy transport of these drums. |
Versatile Cable Reels Durable Two-Flange Reels for Triax, Multicore Audio, and Heavy-Duty Power Cables Featuring a classic skeletal design, these reels provide space within the hub for a short length of cable from the inner end, allowing you to pull out and connect to the tailgate or wall box without fully unreeling the cable. |
Advanced Three-Flange Reels for SMPTE 311M HDTV Fibre Hybrid Cables This innovative drum design, developed in collaboration with BBC Outside Broadcasts, is specifically tailored to accommodate SMPTE 311M fiber hybrid camera cables. |
Longer fiber lengths are typically preferred to avoid joining shorter assemblies and to minimize the number of drums needed on-site. However, if the full length isn't required at a location, unreeling the entire cable becomes cumbersome. While copper cables allow for storing a short length of the inner end within the drum hub, fiber hybrid cables must adhere to a strict minimum bend radius to prevent damage. This makes it impossible to tightly coil the inner couple of meters within the main hub. |
Our additional flange and large-diameter hub allow for up to five meters of fiber from the inner end to be safely coiled and protected, ensuring the main cable can be run out. The inner end can then be unwound and connected to the tailgate or wall box. |
